Council flags will fly at half-mast on Monday, 22 February 2021 as a mark of mourning and respect for the Honourable Ian Armstrong AM OBE. The State Memorial Service will take place on Monday, 22 February 2021 in Cowra, New South Wales.

Mr Armstrong lived a life dedicated to serving and representing regional people. He held a number of volunteer positions during his lifetime, and also served as Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs. In the 1979 New Year's Honours, he was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in recognition of service to primary industry. In 2009, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for service to the Parliament of New South Wales, to the agricultural and livestock sectors, and to the community.
