At its Ordinary Meeting held on 25 February 2025 Council resolved to exhibit the Debt Recovery Policy.
The purpose of the Debt Recovery Policy is to provide a structured and fair approach to recovering outstanding debts while ensuring financial sustainability for the Council. It aims to balance responsible debt collection with support for customers experiencing financial hardship, promoting engagement and transparency in the process. By following principles of equity, compliance, and financial responsibility, the policy helps the Council meet its legal obligations under the Local Government Act 1993, minimize overdue debts, and maintain a stable financial position while treating customers with fairness and respect.
The Policy will be on display until 28 March 2025.
