Council has partnered with ZNET Plus to allocate staffing and promotional resources to assist in the delivery of the local community group’s Let’s Talk About Water project.

Building on the success of the Uralla ZNET blueprint project, ZNET Plus has received $30,000 State government grant funding for the project.  The project is in partnership with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Global Water Institute.

Council is finalising its Integrated Water Cycle Management Planning involving investigations and identification of future works in conjunction with the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment – Water to help secure the future for Uralla’s water supply.

Uralla Shire Council General Manager, Ms Kate Jessep stated that she is pleased Council is offering resources to support ZNET Uralla with their project and that the community engagement undertaken by ZNET will assist with Council’s infrastructure planning.

“Z-NET Uralla has successfully contributed to increasing sustainability awareness within Uralla Shire and I am excited to be able to offer some Council resources to assist with the delivery of their Let’s Talk About Water project.”

President of Z-NET Uralla, Sandra Eady said that the project will be delivered in four stages.

“The steps are to collate information for the community, community and stakeholder engagement through a series of workshops, aim to seek wider community consultation and then share the information with Uralla Shire Council and other local Councils in NSW.

“The goal is to provide an opportunity to deliver a strong community voice around the issues of water security in our Shire.”

Council voted unanimously to support the initiative with ZNET Uralla at the August Ordinary Meeting of Council.
