Day Centre Coordinator

The role is primarily responsible for the coordination and facilitation of Uralla/Armidale Elders Day Centre program and may include group excursions/activities conducted away from the Centre.

Key Responsibilities include:

Develop and plan social support programs to provide a culturally appropriate service to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community following the guidelines set out by the funding Body.
Access and monitor clients’ needs and functional abilities and develop programmes with the assistance of the Coordinator of Tablelands Community Support, activities and excursions that are appropriate for the Elders needs.
Promote reputation of Uralla Shire Council throughout the New England area as a provider of high quality services to the Elders. Encourage clients to participate in a wide range of Community activities to maintain an optimum level of self esteem, and independence.
Assist with personal care and mobility of clients.
Provide nutritional balanced meals at the Day Centre to encourage clients to develop healthy eating practices.
Ensure privacy and dignity is respected, confidentiality is maintained and clients treated with understanding and helpfulness.
Be proactive in promoting effectiveness and efficiency within the work area.
With the Assistance of the TCS Coordinator, Identify opportunities to improve service delivery.
Collect fees from clients and receipt as per fees policy.
Advocate on behalf of clients within the Day Centre programme through referral to the My Aged Care or other appropriate services.
Carry out other duties as directed within the scope, skill and competence level of the position and employee.

To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
Criteria Certificate III Community Services or similar or equivalent experience.
First Aid Certificate
Must hold and retain a current Australian Class C Drivers licence.
Demonstrated ability or able to develop and maintain working relations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and service providers.
Experience in either a similar role, or the coordination of activities for older people, or previous administration experience and willingness to undertake training.
An understanding of the community care sector and the services they can provide to the elders.
Intermediate level of skill in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products and demonstrated broad computer literacy.
A working knowledge of the roles and responsibilities set out in the Workplace Health and Safety Act and the principles of equal employment opportunity.
Ability to plan, coordinate and arrange activities suitable for the elders.
Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team.
An understanding of community services, events and activities.





Hourly pay rate is $26.87 gross + 9.5% superannuation
