 Position Purpose: Ensure the effective administration and enforcement of legislation, Council policies/procedures, by laws and other regulations that fall within the jurisdiction of the role for Uralla and Walcha Councils.

Key responsibilities include:

• Administer the provisions of the Companion Animals Act 1998 including the detention and care of stray animals.
• Investigate, record and report on complaints and initiate appropriate follow up action.
• Respond to enquiries from internal and external customers in a timely manner.
• Record and maintain information relating to the NSW Companion Animals Register in accordance with Council’s requirements.
• Implement the requirements of the Impounding Act including the management of stray stock, abandoned vehicles/articles and footway obstructions.
• Prepare correspondence, file notes, memos, letters and standard reports as required.
• Monitor the provisions of Section 124 of the Local Government Act 1993 to ensure vegetation in private properties do not present a fire hazard, become unsightly or a habitat for vermin.
• Monitor compliance of waste water operating systems as per Section 47/48 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005.
• Liaise with Council’s regulatory health officers in regards to public health issues.
• Carry out other duties that are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.

  • Previous Local Government experience.
  • Current Hepatitis immunisation eg. Twinrix
  • Current First Aid Certificate or equivalent.  


Salary up to $940.70 per week subject to the demonstration of qualifications, skills and competencies.
9.5% superannuation.
9 day fortnight working arrangement.
