Uralla Main Street Disability Access Project

One of the aims of Uralla Shire Council is to develop an innovative, adaptive and diverse economy, where its residents have quality of life and economic opportunities. Our Community and Culture business focuses on enhancing the well-being of residents, improving social and physical health and increasing civic engagement. One of our goals in our Operational Plan for 2016-2017 is to work towards achieving the status of a Disability Friendly community through the provision of accessible facilities and services. One of the programs we have completed is the Main Street Disability Access Project.

Training was provided through the project consultant and in a partnership with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance of Armidale focussed on communication accessibility issues and physical accessibility issues. This project has helped USC focus on what we will do to work towards a holistic community strategic vision for an inclusive community. The training can accessed via the above image carousel above or by downloading the PowerPoint presentation from the link below.

Please take a look at the training presentation and if you are interested in making your local business a Mobility Map participant – please contact Council by email at council@uralla.nsw.gov.au to discuss how you can become accredited.
